You think being a patient is tough? Then spare a thought for the doctors!
In Trauma Center: Under the Knife, you play the role of Dr Derek Stiles; Hope Hospital’s brilliant yet hot-headed young surgeon. Faced with saving lives on a daily basis, you must perform complex operations like heart surgery and tumour removal using the unique technology of Nintendo DS.
- Use the DS stylus as a scalpel to make incisions on the touch-sensitive screen.
- Rub the screen to perform heart massage and bring cardiac arrest patients back to life.
- Inject correct doses of drugs with a tap of the stylus and locate tumours with ultrasound pulses.
- Use the dual screens of Nintendo DS to operate and keep an eye on your patient’s vitals at the same time.
- When you’re finished, suture the wound with delicate stylus strokes.
Using a wide variety of medical equipment – from tweezers to lasers – you’ll need a steady hand and nerves of steel. In times of need, you can also call on Dr Stiles’ amazing ‘Healing Touch’ powers to slow down time and perform medical miracles. But playing doctor is only half the story. Trauma Center is part surgical action game, part adventure; as you must also investigate a mysterious new plague that threatens the health of the world.
Called GUILT (Gangliated Utrophin Immuno Latency Toxin), this killer disease has been hidden from the public by a secret organisation; but Dr Stiles begins to learn the truth when his routine cases suddenly become much more serious…
