WHAT IS

HOTEL DUSK: ROOM 215?

Advancing The Plot

Soon the questions will start piling up, and you’ll have to explore the entire hotel for answers. There are puzzles to be solved and people to be questioned before you manage to put all the pieces together.

When you run into one of the staff or guests of Hotel Dusk, you can tap the Talk icon on the bottom of the Touch Screen to start a conversation. Dialogue plays out with each character occupying a screen, their expressions vividly animated like in a film noir.

Talking to characters is a good way to gather information, but be careful – not everyone can be trusted. The hotel guests each have a mind of their own and if they don’t like your attitude they may be less inclined to help you out – or worse.

Like a novel, the game is divided into chapters, signifying one hour of story time in the night of December 28, 1979. However, to make sure that you have enough time to search for clues, the chapters don’t play out in real time. You can spend as long as you want searching for clues, and it won’t be until you trigger a certain event that the clock progresses and you move on to the next chapter.

Kyle Hyde keeps a diary that you can refer to at any time to read up on previous events. This also includes an overview of characters you ran into, plus a list of all the items in your inventory. If you want to stop playing for a while, you can easily save your game and pick up right where you left off next time you play.

In that sense, Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is just like that book you were reading earlier, with one vital difference: how it plays out is really up to you.
