The Health Benefits of Dog Care
Stroking a Nintendog might not be as warm and cuddly as the real thing but the benefits gained from caring for a dog are becoming increasingly important as our lives become more stressful.
Research has shown that dogs can bring many positive health benefits to their owners - both physically and mentally. In fact, special ‘therapy dogs’ are often used in hospitals and nursing homes to provide much-needed comfort and companionship to patients.
Animal companionship has been found to relieve stress, lower blood pressure and generally raise people’s spirits. Therapy dogs have also helped children overcome speech and emotional disorders.
So remember: caring for a dog isn’t just good for the animal - it’s also good for humans too! |
