Devised by Japanese interactive media artist Toshio Iwai, Electroplankton is an innovative Nintendo DS title that blends music with soothing aquatic visuals to create a truly unique experience.
By touching the screen with the stylus or your finger, you can interact with 10 different species of Electroplankton to produce a variety of sounds - from pianos to percussion instruments - and striking visual effects.
Each species of Electroplankton has a different function. ‘Rec-Rec’ lets you record your voice and lay it over a selection of backing rhythms; adding extra sound layers and slowing down or speeding up the tempo.
‘Nanocarp’ respond to your voice or any other sound you care to make. Clap your hands, blow into the Nintendo DS microphone or even sing to them - it’s up to you.
|
Or if you’re a fan of classic video games, then try the ‘Beatnes’
plankton, with which you can make melodies using famous sound effects
from Nintendo classics like Super Mario Bros.
Electroplankton
lets you perform in any way you wish. If you just feel like ‘jamming’
with your aquatic friends, you can. Or if you’re in a more creative
mood, you can hook up the Nintendo DS to recording equipment and make
your own multimedia musical installation. |
